According to reports, 43-year-old Manuel Uribe, the world's heaviest man, has announced that he plans to marry his long-term girlfriend named Claudia Solis on Oct 26 in Monterrey, Mexico.

The couple met each other in 2004. They have still yet to decide the location for exchanging their wedding vows.

Uribe had been declared the world's heaviest man this year by Guinness Book of World Records. He is unable to even get out of his bed. Any outing requires hoisting his bed onto the back of a truck.

However, since 2006 when his weight was at its peak of 560 kg, he has shed about 250kg with the help of nutritionists working with the Zone diet. Understandably, he said he would not have more than a bite of wedding cake for photos, since he's still dieting to reach a weight which will allow him to walk again. His goal is to leave the house on his own but doctors say that is a long process because it may take several years for Uribe to reach his goal. He particularly is looking forward to walking his fiancee down the aisle when they marry. A Mexican band called Pesado, or Heavy, will be providing the music during his wedding.

Phentermine, a contraction for "phenyl-tertiary-butylamine", is basically an appetite suppressant belonging to the amphetamine and phenethylamine category. It is a centrally acting drug approved to be used to help bring down weight in obese patients when used over the short-term along with exercise and diet. Generally, it’s prescribed for those people who have a high health risk due to their weight. The mechanism of the drug involves releasing certain chemicals in the brain that help put a stop to hunger and hence slow down the appetite.

Since Phentermine acts through sympathomimetic pathways, it is associated with a lot of side effects. For example, it may elevate blood pressure and heart rate, and cause palpitations, restlessness, and insomnia. Moreover, it has the potential to cause physical and psychological dependence. Some other common possible symptoms are: irritability, nervousness, sense of well-being, dry mouth, unpleasant taste, blurred vision, heartburn/acid reflux, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, irregular heartbeat, nausea, skin rash, stomach pain, and fatigue.

In case you have any of the following medical conditions, make sure you consult with your doctor before using Phentermine:

      • Pregnant, thinking of becoming pregnant, or are breast-feeding
      • Using any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
      • Suffering from allergies to foods, medicines, or other substances
      • Suffering from a brain or spinal cord disorder, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, diabetes, or high cholesterol/lipid levels.
